Poplar Bark Siding

Appalachian Mountains"

Bark siding can be used in different ways. Typically it is used as full siding on a home or building. This gives the building a durable, tough, and visually appealing exterior cladding, and it also gives the building a unique "mountain" look.

Sometimes the siding is used as accents on various areas of the exterior. Dormers are a good example for this type application. Another location might be higher or lower up on the house accenting another type of installed siding; this would be akin to a "two-toned" look. Gables are also a good area that accenting with bark can be done.

Often the siding is mixed with other type sidings.  One wall may have all bark while an adjoining wall may be another type siding.  This can result in a very pleasing combination.

Also, bark siding is used inside the home as a type of paneling. Some walls are covered in bark for this unique indoor style.

Ultimately, bark siding is best left up to the designer and builder's imagination. How bark siding fits into the building plan is linked to solid building and designer skills. Thoughtful planning and design will result in a beautiful and unique appearance that only bark siding can produce.
